Host: Thank you so much for performing for us. Your voice is so silky & clear, it not only has a healing effect for the listeners, it makes us happy, too!
[Host: to the listeners}
Here she is...Miss Marie Digby!
Marie: Konnichiwa! Hajimemashite! (Hello, Nice to meet you everyone)! Thank you!
Host: Wow, you speak Japanese so fluently! We've never had a guest who can speak Japanese so fluently, you're the first so, today is special.
Marie: So, I'm the first?
Host: Yes, you're the first.
Your father is an Irish American, your mother is Japanese. And you were born in?
Marie: New York City.
Host: Oh, you're a city girl. Which do you like better, the countryside or the city?
Marie: Ummm...countryside I think.
Host: And right now you are living in?
Marie: Los Angeles.
Host: Los Angeles is urbanized, but also has lots of nature, doesn't it?
Marie: They have both.
Host: Yes, you can enjoy both.
So, you have been in Japan since August 14, and you were staying at your Grandmother's place in Kumamoto Prefecture. Has it been a while since you last came back to Japan?
Marie: Well, my family and I have been visiting Kumamoto twice a year, every year...since I was a child...
Host: How many times have you been in Japan?
Marie: About 30 or 40 times.
Host: What places in Kumamoto do you recommend for people like me who have never really visited the place?
Marie: Suizenji Koen (Suizenji Park ), Kumamoto Jo (Kumamoto Castle), Mount Aso, it's really beautiful.
Host: I'd love to visit Mount Aso.
.......
(Bullet train and crowded train story part skipped LOL)
.......
Host: How has your Grandma responded to your success in the US? Is she really happy for you?
Marie: She's so excited and she's been waiting for me. We always tell her, "Grandma, Marie is doing music in America" and she says "Oh that's really nice" but now it's really there in her home, on her TV. That's what's exciting.
Host: I see. She has heard about you working on your career as a singer-song-writer in the US, but she couldn't really grasp what was going on since it was all happening in the US, and now your songs have become a hit in Japan, and seeing you in the media has helped her understand your success and now it has all sunk in for her.
Marie: Yeah...
Host: Oh, and about the video on youtube of your cover Rihanna's "Umbrella".
Marie: Yes, it was a huge hit last year.
Host: Your "Umbrella" video had 7,700,000 views at that time!
Marie: I couldn't believe it. I was wondering "Who is watching this video? It is the same person clicking it?"
Host: I think you can only get one view per person (from one account/IP).
Marie: Wow, I can't believe it!
........
(Marie performs "Umbrella")
........
Host: Your cover and singing is very intriguing! What is it about you that has attracted so many people?
Marie: Oh gosh, that's a difficult question! I think I'm just a regular girl and people
are excited that they can see I am just in my home, with a guitar, you know, it's simple, nothing produced.
Host: People saw a regular girl, playing an acoustic guitar at home...and it is all natural, not produced. And you write your songs from your own experiences which many people can relate to. I guess that is why it grabbed the heart of the viewers. Do you like Rihanna?
Marie: Yes, of course I like her. She's great. She's mysterious.
Host: You've also done covers of Lincoln Park and Maroon 5.
Marie: I also love rock!
Host: Next time you are on this show, please sing/perform some rock music!
Marie: Thank you!
Host: Can you say something in Japanese to your Japanese fans ?
Marie: Thank you everyone for supporting me. Today I will perform live in Omotesando at 3pm and 5pm so please come!
Host: Thank you so much!
I love how the host is mixing up Jap and English and carry on talking and talking sooo speedy!! (I'm Japanese but this is rare :D )
