Just about, maybe a tad faster. Since my Jeep is a 97, I was able to pull the flasher relay from behind the steering wheel (on the firewall) and just modify it to disconnect the under-current sensor. So, the relay works just like it should with stock lights, but it does seem like they flash just a tad faster. The earlier TJs have the right part for this. Newer ones dont :-(
I removed the stock fixtures and replaced them with some 4 inch round LEDs that mount into the body. There are lots of web sites that carry those kinds of products.

Did you replace the stock bulbs to LED bulbs?
