The TEI was used to accelerate the craft to get them home faster. It wasn't even necessary. They did it to get them home faster and change the Splashdown site.
By the way Jarrah, do you honestly think you can calculate fuel consumption by doubling the mass and thus fuel required? Your fuel calculations make me laugh lol.

Jarrah, the question is serious. I don't understand the comment you made at that point in your film. Could you explain a bit more?

"So if it was already going fast enough, why commence the TEI burn in the first place?"
Why try to get them home faster you mean?
Beacause they were 3 men in a spacecraft designed to hold 2 men for 40-odd hours.

The A13 TEI burn was made so as to either increase the speed, and/or refine the trajectory so as to get them home faster.
Do not confuse the A13 TEI burn with the normal TEI burn, which was used to accelerate the CSM from lunar orbit at 3600 mph to about 5000 mph. The velocity change required on A13 was not of this order.
Thanks for the thumbs down by the way.

National library in Washington, for instance.

At 5:19 you pause LandingApollo's video at the point at which he says you should have spent more time researching. As a counter you talk about Ralph René's letter.
Are you presenting René's letter as evidence that you did spend more than 10 minutes researching? Or is it that you are distancing yourself from any criticism by laying the blame on René?
At 5:54 you comment on LandingApollo's claim that information is widely available on the internet, by saying that Ralph René doesn't use internet.
The comment was addressed at you, not Ralph René.
Although LandingApollo says this information is widely available on internet, it is not the only source. Non-use of internet cannot be used by René as defence against any accusation of poor research.

"Although LandingApollo says this information is widely available on internet, it is not the only source. Non-use of internet cannot be used by René as defence against any accusation of poor research."
And where exactly do you expect him to get it from? NASA? It took them nearly two years for them to send him the photographs he requested.

Jarrah, you still haven't understood. The 2.5 min burn was used to accelerate the CSM out of lunar orbit. ie to accelerate from 3600 mph to around 5000 mph.
Apollo 13 was never in a captured lunar orbit. It was already approaching the moon at about 5000 mph. It didn't need a burn equivalent to the CSM 2.5 minute burn, because it was already going fast enough.

"It didn't need a burn equivalent to the CSM 2.5 minute burn, because it was already going fast enough."
So if it was already going fast enough, why commence the TEI burn in the first place? How can a shorter and less powerful burn than what's normally used to propel just the one craft have any effect on both vehicles which together has double the mass?
