  • Hey, Tim

Thanks for the videos. I've been singing - or attempting to sing - for a few years, and I've talked to many people from instructors, to professional singers, and no one has really explained anything as clearly as you. You're a big help!

    Thanks,

    David

  • Thanks David best of luck with your vocal studies!

  • @94miata And as far as vocal pedagogy goes, the only healthy, non damaging singing can be performed with your larynx at resting position. It takes many years to perfect, but is very worth it. Any amount of studying Bel Canto will be beneficial.

  • @94miata your soft palate typically is either raised or not. It's hard to get an in-between. if you want to make the sound nasal whilst in your midrange before your passagio, lower your soft palate, or visa versa.

To bring a more rich tone from your high notes to the table, I suggest the bell canto technique from the opera. bell canto is a methodology, not a style, and can be applied in any way you seem fit.

  • @Tenorforte depends on the style you're speaking about...but i completely disagree

  • The male student singer is not good at all. Quite distracting to this instructional video.

  • i like her...,

  • Another comment: as you get higher up in your chest voice, your larynx has to raise up to hit the notes? Correct? It can't sit where it does when you are in the lower/ middle half of your chest voice?

  • Do you need to have your soft palette raised up as high in rock/alternative/pop as you do in classical?

I sing contemp./pop and am trying to get a more full/rich tone. I try to raise my soft palette more, but it sounds like im singing contemp./pop with a somewhat classical sound.

What do you think about the soft palette and how high it should be raised for alternative/rock/pop singing?
