Turning NKP #765 in Cadillac. MI. - 2010

Here is Nickel Plate #765 being turned on the wye in Cadillac, MI. This a very slow process, as care has to be taken to make sure that the shear weight of 765 doesn't push the rails out of gauge, there-by causing a derailment. No derailent happened, thank goodness!

I overheard while there that the first time PM 1225 went around this wye, the weight of the engine and the condition of the track caused the spikes to shoot 5 -10 feet in the air as the engine went over them. The track has being upgraded greatly since then, and no problems were encountered.

Is there a Railfan group in Cadillac ??? I seem to miss all of the good stuff !! :)

The best I've seen was the summer 2007 excursion I think was National ART Train - diesels - but nearly all road names UP, SP Daylight, etc - Gorgeous !!

WOW! What a sleek looking engine. I wouuld have loved to have been there to witness that, Thanks fore sharing. Those rails will never be the same now 765 has been over them.
