*Formal campaigning for Indonesias July 8 presidential election began with incumbent Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono seemingly on track for a resounding victory thanks to the countrys robust economy, his clean image and the lack of a credible challenger. Most polls put the former general on at least 60 per cent support, with his predecessor, Megawati Sukarnoputri, in the upper teens and Jusuf Kalla, the vice president and third contender, in single digits. Aiming for re-election, President Yudhoyono published an essay "Positive Energy: 100 Leaders Opinions of Indonesia in the SBY Era". The essay is a collection occasioned by the naming of Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) as one the 100 Most Influential People in 2009. It is said that many leaders, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirajuda, East Timor President, South Korea President and Japanese President contributed to this publishing.

７月８日のインドネシア大統領選で再選を目指すユドヨノ大統領のために、内外の著名人１００人以上が寄稿した「ポジティブなエネルギー」と題する本が、このほど出版された­。ハッサン外相など主要閣僚のほか、国外からは東ティモールのホルタ大統領、韓国の李明博大統領、福田康夫前首相も寄稿した。表紙は引き締まった表情で敬礼するユドヨノ氏­の写真。ユドヨノ氏への絶賛が連綿と続き、やや鼻白む内容だが、同氏側は著名人との関係を誇示して、支持を広げたい考えのようだ。
