  • @thoostorm4 Pretty sure that was the 1987 season.......we lost the Orange Bowl national title game in January 88 and then we lost the NCAA Tournament Game in March 88.

  • @jobu88 they almost won basketballchampionship the same year

  • Keith Jackson was a huge factor in this game for Oklahoma.

  • Thanx for the vid! This was the first year when I was a kid that I started to watch college football, Boomer Sooner was in full effect at my house being that my grandfather (god bless his soul) was from Norman. He was so proud of that team especially for Jamelle because he was a great quaterback at a time when the Black Quarterback was not a popular idea.

They are starting out as the #1 team this year. Bring the chrystal ball back where it belongs, right there in Norman. BOOMER SOONER!!!!!!!

  • It's hard to believe a true freshman QB running any offense at the Division I level, but for Jamelle Holieaway to run the OU wishbone like he did was out of this world. I saw them three times that year, I also saw Steve Davis, Thomas Lott, JC Watts and Holieaway was the best of all of them. As a true freshman who didn't even get to play hardly at all in the first 5 games of the year. Just amazing.

  • I was at this as a PSU freshman. The Sooner fans were great and we stayed in a giant RV on the Orange Bowl lot for nearly a week. OK was just too fast for us and you could feel them wear us down with that speed. Congrats, and thanks for the memories, we would get our victory the next year.

  • Penn State gave this game away with mistakes and turnovers.

  • Penn State would rebound in 1986 & get their National Championship

  • @OUfootballAuthority

Georgia Tech runs it but man did we stuff them in the Orange Bowl (The Iowa Hawkeyes.) College coaches are very turnover conscious today so perhaps that is why the triple option has lost favor. Too many fumbles. They seem to prefer running a mobile QB out of a shotgun spread formation. Less fumbles and more passing options perhaps.

  • Jamelle Holieway was the greatest option QB EVER!
