A 17 year old male presented with decreased vision and extraordinary sensitivity to light, and was found to have congenital aniridia (born without the light adjusting colored part of the eye) and a cataract. Surgery to reconstruct the eye using a custom designed iris implant was performed. The post operative results are indistinguishably cosmetically from a normal eye.. and he now sees well enough to obtain a driver's permit. The patient's friend served as a "model" for the iris, and the model's eye is shown at the end of the video for comparison. A narration of this video will be posted soon.
