Established in 1994, Aahung has emerged from a Karachi-based community project to a leading authority in the field of sexual health and rights in Pakistan. Functioning in an environment devoid of expertise or resources, Aahung has been successful in developing culturally relevant strategies to respond to the sexual health needs of the Pakistani population. Moreover, Aahung has had success in bringing attention to sexual health issues and concerns in medical and educational institutions across Pakistan
The basic premise behind the documentary is threefold; firstly to broaden the understanding of sexual and reproductive health and to assert the need to prioritize its importance amongst policy makers, educators, students and the public; secondly to emphasize the direct correlation between the sexual and reproductive health of individuals within a community and the increased economic productivity and social development of that community; and finally, to present suggestions for ways of incorporating SRH into the medical curriculum as the most effective way to support the first two goals.
