For those who saw Animal House (the 1978 movie), this is one of the spinoff TV shows.
ABC's version seemed to be the best of the three, starring some of the original actors from the movie. As for the lack of John Belushi, the show makes a crack about "Bluto" in the military.

I made this recording on my first VCR (it was a Philco Piano-Key type) in January of 1979.
Enjoy.

  • I heard that they used other sound effects like boos to go along with the laugh track. Did they also canned applause, or clapping?

  • Oh yes, totally sitcom format.

  • Even shows that only mention Jim Belushi suck.

    Jim Blutoski, classic.

  • @daverandalstrailers It was probably when TV Land played a whole weekend of Warner Brothers shows back in the summer of 2005 for a whole weekend.

  • The problem was twofold: first, there was only so much that one could do with this type of setting and scenario. Great for a movie, but hard to drag out into a television series. Second, the movie Animal House became celebrated for its raunch, something which prime time in the late 1970s would not tolerate. Thus, the writers had to tone everything down, thereby taking the luster away that made the movie so appreciated.

  • Hello there, Hill Valley courthouse!

  • i remember TV Land once played an episode or two but i think it was a special one time deal.

  • thanks for posting this!!!

  • wow...animal house the movie would of really sucked if Belushi wasnt in it...

  • the show was kinda good. but it didn't the same people. the only people still there was hoover, flounder. d-day and dean womer.

  • Each of the three networks released frat comedies, trying to take advantage of the popularity of Animal House. This was the best of the three, although that isn't saying much. It's nice to see this clip again, just to remember how young I was when it premiered. It was a pretty poor show though, and didn't last long.

  • i've heard of this show but have never seen it. i wish someone would put a full episode on here.
