Anyone CAN carry a firearm because carrying a firearm is a right for all US citizens.
Carrying a firearm is NOT a privilege granted by a government. It's a right, like voicing one's opinion is a right.
Being armed is smart, while being unarmed isn't very smart.

@asleeperj Me and my wife took pictures with Cathy Glass when she came down here to Brownsville Tx for a Restore The Constitution Rally a year ago. I also got to meet Larry Pratt from Gun Owners Of America that day. It's a damn shame we got stuck with Perry again and pray he never becomes president. But I hope we get Ron Paul in 2012!

@danbowski40 No.. I don't think I would. The fact is if the gun is unloaded and I am hanging out where gang bangers hang out. I don't think I would because law biding people would not be there to back me up assuming they would back me up either way.

@lilchuber18 As long as we have Rick The Prick Perry as governor I don't see him signing the bill into law. Now if Debra Medina would have been elected 2 years ago. I would have already had my glock strapped to my side.

Living in Houston and going into areas of the city that I would never Open Carry unless they will let us keep them loaded. Hanging a 500 to 1000 dollar gun from my hip that is not loaded it inviting someone the rob you at gun point and take your gun. I will stick with my CHL.

@repentantmonkey He got the idea because certain states (California) and a few others allow you to open carry but it can't be loaded. You can have a magazine on you that is loaded but no ammo can be attached to the gun. I'm all for open "loaded" carry in Texas and I really hope it passes.

Dont listen to the person below me! Texas IS NOT an open carry state yet! It's true the bill passed the House Commitee, but it still has to go through the Senate and Governor.

I would rather carry concealed simply because you can carry locked and loaded. To many steps to fire a gun on short notice with an open carry law.
