If you read "I Am Spock" or "I Am Not Spock" by Nimoy, you get the whole correspondence on this. "Spock" even joins in, commenting on how they should have medical care 24/7 because he cut himself while working late one night. Somebody else (in production/someplace like that) then sent out a memo about his pens and pencils being stolen and how there was green stuff (Vulcan blood) all over his desk. Yeah, you gotta love Nimoy. :D
