This video is interview by our local director Royston tan. This video talks about our opera troupe lifestyle and the sorrows of my elders.I'm the fifth genaration of this opera troupe...In this interview,me and my auntie was being interviewed...Organised a truope isnt that easy,we really need more youngster to know this tradition.
das, thx for your reply (nice to hear from someone who shares same interest). In the 1970s, it was the peak of dialect operas; hokken, teochew, and cantonese ones. Among all the Hokkien opera groups my most favourite one (also the most most popular) is 新賽鳳. I was only about 8 yrs old then, now i'm in mid 40s & so much has changed... I've lived in Scotland (for past 15 yrs), but know it's not as popular as before, cos u'r right, youngster don't know how to appreciate this art! makes me sad...

Brought back so much memories! Years have passed and times have changed... but my love for 新賽鳳 has never dwindled. Had always enjoyed every performance by them when I was young, I think they're brilliant! It's a pity we rarely see their performace these days. Please, please don't lose such a unique culture in Singapore!
