My now infamous video as seen on Inside Edition: http://www.insideedition.com/news.aspx?storyID=1245

Loooooong story, but the point is I got to spend five fun-filled days in a psychiatric hospital (a jail where they send crazy people) and I lived to tell about it! It was probably the most fucked up experience of my life, and yet for some reason I miss that place. Mostly I miss all the good drugs they gave me. Anyway, despite having all my shit taken away from me I still managed to smuggle my digital camera in so HA! Now I have video proof of the living conditions I had to endure.

And just so that I never have to answer these questions again:

Q: How did you get your camera in there? A: I had a guest bring me my digital camera during a visitation. I was allowed private visitations and took full advantage of that. The hospital did not allow guests into the actual ward--they were only allowed into a special visitation room--so I needed to find another way of showing them what my living conditions were like inside. I took the cam in my pocket from the visitation area back to my room, shot the video and then returned it to my guest for them to see and take back home with them. Once I was released, I uploaded the video onto YT! The rest is history. I never had any idea so many people would be interested in this video, it's surprising.

Q: Were you locked in that room? A: No. I know I called it my "jail cell" in the video, but that's only because it looked and felt like a jail cell. I was allowed to leave the room (during the day anyway) but was locked inside the ward. Twice a day we were allowed to go outside for 15 minutes into that little fenced-off area I pointed to in the video. Believe it or not, this was one of the nicest rooms in the ward. There was only one other private room on my floor besides mine--all the other rooms were "dorm" style with three or more patients sharing the same space. I would have gone APE SHIT if they'd have put me in one of those rooms. So yea, I was actually very lucky to have this room...as crazy as that sounds.

  • I went to Havenwyck, much worster living conditions you had. The staff never cleaned the rooms or change the sheets. You always had two other room mates. And there was no door, your room is connected to a hall way of rooms which the patients stayed with no doors, so the light always came into your room and every 15 mins security walks in to check on you sometimes turning on the bright lights. The beds matresses were like those giant gym cushion wall paniels. And the staff were dicks.

  • @AstroWaldo Sounds lovely! That'd definitely make me wanna kill myself.

  • What would happen if you physically assaulted the staff, while they tried to force delivering unwanted medication (toxins) against your wishes?

  • @pillowbugg Then they would take you in this special room (with nothing in it) and restrain you...then drug you. It never happened to me because I cooperated but I did see it happen to another guy. The patients are treated light animals with no rights.

  • @papatoony "light animals" don't you mean liKe animals?

Do you have something against Ks? you haven't used it at all that whole paragraph

  • @KimmyTonka Yes, I meant "like" animals. Good catch there, buddy. Keep your head on a swivel.

  • @Yeppr No, I figured out very quickly that they weren't going to help me and that I needed to act as normal as possible to get myself the FUCK outta there. The minute I saw my cell for the first time I realized I'd made a terrible, terrible mistake. I turned around and said to the guy, "I'm sorry...I came here because I haven't slept in six days, and this is not going to help me with that." His response was, "What were you expecting? You're in a mental hospital." He was a complete DICK.

  • @aconstans93 No...they weren't awesome. Of the 30 or so guys on my floor, only a couple of them were even close to "sane." The others would sing songs or make creepy howling noises at all hours of the day and night. One guy was in there for supposedly throwing his parents down a flight of stairs. These were not people I'd want to share a room with.
