(SAFETY HAZARD) This Bridge has been the Site of Numerous Major Accidents The Ashland Avenue Bridge @ 37th & Ashland...People Should See what Happens when the City Fails To Put up Safety Barriers in front of the Concrete Ramps that are not marked with any safety paint or Crash Barrels
Amazingly...The Passenger that is Trapped Did Survive...The Driver Was DUI
Filmed By Todd Sherman
I hope if people see this video...They WILL demand Action Immediately from CDOT for some safety changes to be implemented...as it seems odd that 100 feet before the bridge, the city planted Trees & Added Sprinklers!!!!!!!

  • Great video, Todd!

Might want to disable comments before the thousands of Monday Morning Quaterbacks come......just saying.

  • @ATFDFF

thanks i think i might be doing that!

  • The driver was DUI, would safety changes really help? I agree that they should be implemented but in this case the driver should not have been driving.

  • @edelapp

The Passenger is the Victim...and There have Been Many NON-DUI Accidents at this Bridge..Its a Concrete Ramp Launch

  • @justinml Never, never, never monkey with the electrics in a car when there is entrapment. A spark could occur which would or could set off leaking fluids. Live with the horn - after a while as you are working on the scene and you are into the job you don't even notice the horn. Believe me, been there, done that, have the t-shirt.

  • wow what a video Great footage and what a Great fire and rescue team good job. And for the guy hope he is doing well next time DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.

  • I worked next to that bridge..about once a week a car would roll over on the south side of that overpass

  • ok ,Now lets here how many have accidents that dont have alcohol in them>>

hey you drink and drive, you most likely won't survive...So sounds like hopefully he will or did learn a leason...

  • former medic, and i do not miss the sound of the stuck horn!

  • From the saftey standpoint that the Chicago Fire Dept. prides themselves on well it was lacking here. Firefighters extricating without helmets and eye protection and company officers standing by and watching. Removal of the patient were was the C-Spine immobilization? Just some basics here. But first and foremostlets protect ourselves, NO HELMET and EYE PROTECTION really you are a world class dept. dont let down others who watch you!!!!
