@SuicideBLondEx I know your comment is quite old, but I can highly recommend the 760/7600. It's a fine firearm that shoots straight and is quite capable of rapid follow-up shots. I owned one in 30.06, and it was a great rifle. One thing I've read is that due to the shorter barrel, there is incomplete powder burn in 30.06. In other words, the cartridge doesn't deliver its full potential due to the short barrel length. A friend of mine has one in .270 and has killed elk with it in CO.

@SuicideBLondEx Id buy a 760. I have a rem 740 30/06 its a great gun. The 760 is considered the sixth best gun of all time by field and stream magazine. Its like a souped up 740 that dosent jam like a 740.

Don't know about the 740 but the 742 06 I have is awesome. I have had it for 25 years and it is still the weapon I bought new. I love it. It jammed one time and on a nice deer. It cleared quickly enough for me to bag that 10 pt in Louisiana. My bad though, I should of cleaned it before the hunt. First of the season and it had set up a bit.. I know better.

I got my dads, 742 handed down to me years ago, and love it. Just wish I knew where to find some higher capicity mags for it. It is fun to shoot, but sucks only having 5 shots.
