In the 70s we (Bottom Dollar Boy$) played many of the same dives as Pierce in and around Tallahassee, FL. Who knew at that time he was to be an amazing talent! Some years later I bought his first LP from him off the stage at the Warehouse in Tallahassee... (musta been in mid 80s or so). It had tracks St Pauls Song and Tennessee River... still my favorites among his large and outstanding body of work. A fine Songsmith is Mr. Pettis, worthy of his sucess!
i took a songwriting workshop one sat. afternoon in Portland, ME a couple years ago that Pierce gave.. first time I had heard of Pierce... i'm really glad I recorded that 2 hr. session.. on another note... his daughter, Grace Pettis just released her first CD.. first class throughout.. I'd recommend it highly. :)
Saw him once.. changed my life forever. Amazingly gifted songwriter and performer... He signed one of his CDs... wrote on it to read Flannery O'Conner and Walker Percy. So, I did. Amazing.. I encourage you all to read them too.
He used to play at Eddie's a lot in the mid-nineties. He used to live in Atlanta. He's moved back to Alabama now because he was going to Nashville so much. One of the finest songwriters living today.

Wow, Pierce at Eddie's Attic... We saw him there years ago. He talked with us for a few moments after his set, very gracious and talented man.
