December 15th - 16th

A major snow storm affects all of Southern and Eastern Ontario and Quebec. The storm produced upwards of 35 centimetres of snow in parts of Toronto and the GTA. Portions of Eastern Ontario and Southern Quebec received 40 to 60 centimetres. The snow was whipped around by strong gusty winds creating some drifts.

Needless to say with the snow banks above many cars and the official start of winter still several days away peoples spirits were high but I think based on peoples reactions everyone had more than enough snow for the entire winter. Well everyone but me.

Enjoy the video!

* Biggest storm since Jan 99
* Power outages due to wind

Special Notes:

Red Light at 00:28 - I did not run a red light, just as I was approaching the intersection a large blue flash, likely a transformer arcing, illuminated the sky to my distant left and all the street lighting beyond the intersection turned off. The lights at the intersection were also tripped and my green immediately turned to red changing the intersection into a 4 way stop. After I passed through the intersection while treating it as a 4 way stop my red light turned into a blinking yellow (slow down and proceed with caution) however this was not captured by the camera. None the less I did not illegally run a red light if you were wondering.

Snow blower at 08:40 - This device is not actually a snow blower at all; the real thing could not fit into the car. What was being used is known as an electric shovel, broom and/or snow thrower. This device is a single phase unit which only has one rotating blade that tosses snow unlike a true snow blower which has both an auger and pitcher. This device is NOT intended for snow of any significant depth and is only intended to clean lightly covered pathways etc. So this device was NOT being used how it should have been but it really did save a good deal of work.

  • @krrd77 The reason there is music is because there is no audio of any kind. All the dash video has no audio and the shoveling scenes have very faint audio. Snow absorbs most natural sounds and the winds were not making any howling noises. The music also adds a nice tropical flavor to the storm which has comedic value, that's why I chose this song.

  • @tiarnan76 I could have also used a soundtrack that I liked which is what I did. Soundscapes are pretty boring and I don't think it's going to keep people interested for 10 minutes.
