I really like the sound of the Aquila strings on my Ohana Sk35-G, but I didn't have anything to do so thought I'd try out some Worth Brown Extra Tension that I had lying around. I still haven't decided which ones I like best...

Clear strings & black t-shirt = Aquila
Brown strings & AC/DC shirt = Worth Brown

  • A guy I met on Sunday said that he thought the Worths were easier on his fingers. Any of you have an opinion on that?

  • @lodohert Well, since I've been playing a lot of steel string guitar, and even upright bass, all ukes are easy on the fingers unless they're strung with barbed wire. But worth might be a bit softer than aquilas - and they are available in several tensions. The reason I prefer worths is that I think they intonate better that aquilas, and they don't "squeek" as much. But I guess you've got to try em out for yourself - I know a lot of people love aquilas.

  • Thanks. This really helps me.

  • @papara31 Glad it does!

  • @DEK431 Yeah, it's a matter of taste really - they're both good strings, but quite different sound.

  • I have the same ukulele and tried worths today. Didn't work for me so i'm back to aquilas.

  • @BaronK69 Yeah, it's always best to use what works best for you, not what everyone else says...always trust your own ears and fingers. I'm going to try a set of Worths on my old Harmony uke next time I change strings. ;-)

  • @Dackycat Thanks for watching, but I'm a strict worth man these days - aquilas just don't work for me.
