Zelfgemaakte armstrong mix
Tip: Werk met kleine hoeveelheden en draag gehoorbescherming. Knal is harder dan je verwacht.

  • and crush the stuff on the heads for the potassium chlorate of the safety matches into a fine powder. Then diaper mix +-50/50 of the stuff and here is your armstrong. It is not real armstrong but its almost the same. If you have sulphur you can add a small amount. If you bang it with a hammer or a rock or something you'll get a loud report:)

  • Actually I didn't make it with pure ingredients. This I got from Wikipedia:Armstrong's mixture is a highly sensitive primary explosive whose primary ingredients are red phosphorus and potassium chlorate, with sulfur and calcium carbonate present in small amounts. Commercially, it is used in extremely small quantities on the paper caps that are used in toy cap guns.

I made it from scratching the stuff off the strikers from safety matches for the red phoshorus, (continued in next comment)

  • not bad at all

  • you can get LOTS of it from ice fountains, they are cakes decorations

  • potassium PERchlorate is just more oxidizing = more powerful and its more safe than potassium chlorate but its the same stuff.. just not as sensitive as with potassium chlorate

btw the last one.. that was how my first hammer test sounded like (and i guess only haha) i was deaf for 1 minute like really couldnt hear anything.. it was my first pure kclo3 i ever made i tried getting crystals from freezing it, it froze so i boiled it down and i got really nice white crystals.. i dropped the shit -.-

  • hey i have a vid on how to get pure kclo3 (ALMOST pure) from matches.. really easy

  • Its ok, i actually tried it with Potassium perchlorate and it went very well, but according to potassium chlorate, potassium perchlorate is less sensitive.

  • I really don't know, because I know that potassium chlorate is sensitive with phosphorus or sulphur, but thats not with potassium perchlorate, so I say try it, but I don't think so. The reason that I did it with matches, is because I can't get many chemicals in the Netherlands, so. Hope I helped you

  • Is it possible to add Potassium Perchlorate in the mixture instead of Potassium Chlorate ?
