"Capitalism is the legitimate racket of the ruling class."
-Al Capone
I don't know if I agree that Republicans and Democrats are controlled by different blocks of businesses. Just look at Obama's campaign contirubers: Banks, Investment companies. Maybe different brands but still the same interests at play.

Well, you should watch the film. It talks about both parties becoming dominated by the financial sector--which is the newly dominant bloc. Though, as Ferguson mentions, the other party donors are still vestigially closer to their older, traditional industries.

The problem is not capitalist democracy, it's democracy itself, majority rule, that's the real problem and the absence of sovereign nation states to defend themselves against accumulation of capital, resulting from unregulated free trade. Americans have been tricked to think that hey live in a democracy, they do not, the founding fathers established a republic, you won't find the word democracy in the declaration of independence, or in the constitutions of the 50 states.

democracy is not "majority rule". That's only 1 voting pattern. Democracy has many others; in some minorities prevail; in others 2/3ds or 3/4s of the ppl prevail etc. In democracies, minorities and individual rights prevail if they're legitimate. Not if they exploit others. The founding fathers were against democracy cause they wanted to maintain the elite rule of wealthy owners.
