The flex cook show : Episode 8
This is a spicy dish. The aroma of the sauteed green chilies combined with onions, ginger, and garlic is indescribable. I love the sweet, tangy, spicy sauce, which coats the seasoned and sauteed chicken. It is a family favorite!

  • I tried this for me party, and the only complaint was that I didn't make enough! My guests loved it and asked me for the recipe. I altered the recipe a little bit. In stead of ketchup, i used tomato sauce. I doubled the recipe and added garlic powder to the chicken marinade. Also, I made the marinade first, set aside, and then used the same pan to shallow fry the marinated chicken pieces on med. high heat where it have it a nice brown color. Then I added back the onion marinade. Thanks xoxoxo

  • @Lboogie53180 Fantastic!! And great ideas for substitutions and additions. In the cooking classes that I teach locally as well as on my you tube videos, I always say the recipe is a guideline and I encourage everyone to be creative and substitute and customize to your liking. Thanks for sharing!!

  • can this recipe me made the night before and taste as good? I have a party to host next week and one of my guests wants chilli chicken

  • @Lboogie53180 You can make the marinade (without adding chicken) and the tangy sauce a day in advance. But I would add the chicken to the marinade at least an hour before you cook the chicken. Chicken tastes better the day it is made. Once you cook the chicken then add the pre made tangy sauce and simmer according to the directions. Hope this helps. Happy & Healthy New Year!

  • @theflexcook thanks so much. i picked this recipe to try for my party because i can make the marinade a day before. and marinate the chicken in the morning and just cook it very fast during the party. I couldn't find green chilli so I used the red dried chilli. I may also add a little stock to for some gravy, but maybe I won't need it. thanks again! ;)

  • @Lboogie53180 Good idea - using red chili as a substitute. By the way you can also use jalapeno pepper too. Good luck and I'm sure the dish will turn out great!

  • @silvesterlishil There are a variety of ways to make chili chicken - chinese, north indian, andra indian etc. This dish is similar to indo-chinese chili chicken. That's the great thing about cooking - versatility!

  • dis is not chilli chicken....v have 2 apply smashed egg over chicken pieces before frying....

  • Great to make, I made 4lb instead of 2lb, but when it came to the simmer it's difficult as there's no water in the dish, I just turned off and let sit. Was great to taste, :) thank you for your time and effort to show others

  • This is the perfect wife for any man.
