Check out this and other cool science experiments at http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/experiments/ Everyone knows that vegetable oil and water dont mix. Thats because the two liquids have different densities. Density is basically how much stuff is smashed into a particular area or a comparison between an objects mass and volume. So, the exact same volume of two liquids may actually have different masses, so they would have different densities. Thats why vegetable oil floats on top of water.

  • Mr. Steve what will happen to the experiment when you pour another but the same liquid? will it remain on top or pass other color so it could get to its same liquid?Thank U :)

  • @GlenTenHolt eventually the liquids would separate!

  • Dear Steve,

I was wondering if you could use some of your "True Colors" tablets to color the water, rubbing alcohol, etc.

My parent's have decided to never buy me food coloring again (Let's just say there were some big messes.)

I also think those tablets are pretty cool ^_^

  • @panpap12345 that would definitely work.

  • OHMYFFFGOD Why can't I do this u____u''

  • steve could we try this on soda ?

  • @MrPoopstain98. Yes i believe so

  • Some liquids are light are some are heavy, you just need to arrange. Put the heavier liquid at the bottom while the lighter one is on top. I dunno what liquids u can use, but i only know e.g. water and oil.

  • What was he using, and if i shook it up would it go bak to layers
