The 10th mountain division was sent In. then they were relieved by the Marines, the marines shortly pulled out when one of there raids was a massive failure killing 67 civilians. They were then replaced by task force Ranger. 80% of all pacific operations In WWII were Army

30% of those operations involved Army Units entering before the marines.

In our current war the the Army handles all operations In Iraq and Afghanistan

The marines have control of a very small part of Afghanistan
