The persecution of religious believers in North Korea ranks as one of the worst in the world. Many Christians have been publicly executed and others have been taken away to camps where they are subject to brutal treatment. Around 200,000 people are thought to be incarcerated in these sprawling camps, many condemned to such a fate even without a trial.

Recently, CSW were privileged to host a young man, Shin Dong-Hyuk, in the UK for high-profile meeting with political and religious leaders at the highest levels of influence. Shin was born in a North Korean prison camp and was imprisoned there for 23 years before he escaped. After meeting Shin, the Foreign Minister said, "...testimonies such as Mr Shin's give us an insight that we would not otherwise get."
