My demo of a Danelectro Longhorn Bass. I know I'm not a very good bass player, but the point of the video is to display this bass's versatility, not mine. I am playing through a GK 700rb with a 115sbx cab. I am also playing through my MacBook's built-in camera, sorry for the poor quality of both my playing and the camera. Hopefully later on I can post a video with better sound quality that does this bass justice.

  • Are you demoing yourself or the Danelectro? I can se you but...

  • @fritsflow

I didn't know so many people listened with their eyes. If you want to know what it looks like, I'm sure you can find a few hundred pictures of it somewhere on the internet. But at the time of this posting, you really couldn't hear what it sounded like anywhere.

  • Looks fucking ugly... Sounds fucking amazing...

  • @mikeymacaque Hes right fat mike broke the neck of his Dano over his guitarist's head pretty easily and it was an accident haha

  • @Pierfra007

Right right, normal use it's good. But I play venues where beer bottles are thrown all the time, so it might get hit with something in that instance.

  • @mikeymacaque well, if you use to throw it on the ground, or smash it, I can understand. but a normal use, or accidents like the bass falling down, will not break it.

the light weigth makes a fall less damaging. it wont break, trust me. you have no need to worry. you will not find it with holes or something...

Most good skateboards are made with hard rock maple plywood. Masonite is a marketing term for particleboard. Either way a skateboard is what, 2cm thick? The masonite on this bass is maybe half a millimeter thick, so of course it's less sturdy.

The fact that this is pretty much a hollowbody with particle board tops and hardwood ribs gives it a somewhat breakable feel.

  • @mikeymacaque I call these things "psycho masturbation" (for italian's "pippa mentale"). when you are obsessed with an idea, that has any foundation.

masonite, used for Danelectro instruments, is the same material used for hardboard, skateboards... is not fragile.

the body is "semihollow", so you have a plywood central board and a masonite covering.

both neck and fingerboard are made out from solid wood.

actually, is tough, not fragile. no problem using it everywhere.

    Sorry for the late response.

The bass is made of particle board and not from solid wood like most other basses. I play in bars that are on the "rough side of town" so I would not bring my Longhorn to these gigs. It would be much easier to damage than say a Fender Precision just because it is not made of solid hardwood, but particleboard. The particle board does not hurt the sound quality and it makes the bass extremely light.
