Numerous horses were shocked at the 2008 Tucson Rodeo, which is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). The PRCA claims its horses are "Born to Buck," but that obviously is nothing but propaganda. If the horses do not wish to buck, they get shocked by a device that outputs approximately 5,000 volts of painful electricity.

  • I know that nothing I say is going to change your mind and what you are doing is great by all means. I am not saying that what these people did is right... I am simply saying that the PRCA did not do this. Its like in any sport they ban the use of performance enhancing drugs like steroids but people still try to find round about ways to do it and they still do it. The better you perform the more you get paid and the more people want to use you the same holds true to these animals.

  • @jkirbster The PRCA, officials and contestants, have been caught on camera abusing animals. The association as a whole is complicit in the abuse.

  • Great care of there animals and Rodeo animals can and are very expensive some in the 10's of thousands and some in the 100's of thousands of dollars and I know of many that would just about kill people for hurting there animals for this purpose. These people take much pride in the work, time and money they put into the animal and sport they do. Please dont put down the entire sport put down that One particular contractor not the entire sport, area and/or rodeo especially the PRCA! Thanks.

  • @jkirbster The worth of the animals is only dictated by the market. Since rodeo is it's own market, the thousands/tens of thousands of dollars is a bogus amount set by stock contractors. There is no other marketable value to justify the monetary worth of these animals besides what other rodeo stock contractors will pay for them.

As for the PRCA, our videos have proven over the years that they are perhaps the most egregiously abusive or abuse-tolerant sanctioning association in rodeo.

  • Look I dont mean to burst anyones bubbles what the people in these video's are doing is against the rules and is mean and they should not be doing at all. However, I know for a fact that the PRCA would not in anyway knowingly allow this to happen its like any other sport out there some try to break the rules when they can without getting caught and sometimes go without getting caught. I can tell you that the PRCA does there best to protect animals. MOST of the people involved with rodeo's take.

  • @jkirbster ""I know for a fact that the PRCA would not in anyway knowingly allow this to happen"" Saying that under a video where PRCA judges and officials, contestants and stock contractor/workers are watching another PRCA member shock the animals clearly demonstrates what you think you know for a fact is wrong.

  • billbobsbabe: On behalf of the animals, thank you.

  • I won't be going to this rodeo anymore. We visit Tucson several times a year and I was planning to attend the rodeo but no way can I support doing this to animals.

  • TylerShowsSteers: The fact to note here is: it's against the rules.

  • ive been shocked by one of them sumbitches, it hurts and i fell over and spazzed, but i wiegh 180 pounds, them horse weigh 1500 pounds, thats like getting slapped really hard on the ass by a heavy wieght champion, stings for a bit but goes away
