  • Chernov is absolutely one of the greatest singers of all time.

  • I have a request, please post as much of this performance as possible. Thank you!!! This is one of the best things I have ever heard. Do you have the finale of Act 2?

  • This music is just so beautiful, I simply feel priveleged to hear it.

  • Maybe...gobbi is one of my favourite singers ever...but chernov...chernov is not only a singer for me...

  • every time is a ritual when i hear his special presence... it is not a voice: he is a real priest, a bridge to god himself...

  • I haven't noticed that before, but Chernov sounds here very similar with Titto Gobbi..

    Thanks

  • "Stiffelio", "Alzaira", "Jérusalem" etc. almost never performed and this is a real shame. We always have the same, and of course popular, works.

The conductor is Daniele Gatti (excellent and able to have all singers and chorus in perfect harmony), you can see more details about this performance by clicking on "more info"

  • Thanks very much for your message and glad you enjoyed this piece ! What a performance, it was indeed an electrical evening... I remember long.long minutes of the standing ovation the audience applausing at the end of the performance!

I totally agree with you about "I Due Foscari" which I really consider as a masterpiece. Verdi (as well as Donizetti, Bellini. Rossini etc.) has composed real jewels you do not hear very often:
