A major dust-up in Freemont, Nebraska was averted when, after a split decision by City Coucil, Mayor Donald Edwards cast the deciding "no" vote, saying the ordinance under discussion would cause the city undue financial burdens with the inevitable legal challenges and lawsuits.
This clip, from CBS affiliate KMTV out of Omaha, shows Councilman Warner invoking those infamous key words "help the federal government enforce its own laws," "it's all about law enforcement," and "they're costing the city money," the last euphemism used without substantiation.
