A tribute to Edmonton CCF Brill Trolleybus 202. Built in 1954, 202 was the last Brill trolley to be built in Canada. It ran in service until 1978, when it was added to the ETS historic collection. For ETS Centennial week, it was brought out on Saturday and Sunday, doing tours from the downtown library to Stadium LRT Station. With the recent vote to phase out trolleys, this many wind up being one of 202's final trips under wire.

  • Indeed the TTC (Toronto) borrowed several trolley buses from Edmonton several years back before deciding not to revive their fleet. Hamilton went before them. I liked the trolley buses. Quiet and usually efficient. Oh sometimes in Hamilton the driver had to get out and put the poles back on the wires - you don't get that with streetcars - but it's been a long time.

  • In Arnhem, Netherlands, they insisted on having trolleys, as there were also plans to phase out this very sensible means of transport. Groningen and Nijmegen have made their mistakes in the sixties. Arnhem has now a large trolley network. All three towns their tramway networks were heavily damaged in 1944/1945. A rebuilt Arnhem tramvar can be seen in action at the 'Openluchtmuseum', Arnhem, here on YouTube.

  • I grew up in Roanoke, Va. We had about 30 ACF-Brills which looked just like this in the front but an oval window in back. One of them was also 202. Also had 20 C-41 Macks numbered 301-320. Our old look GMCs were 101 thru 124

  • Like I said get 2000 names on a petition and get that vote redone. Call and write your council man and voice your dispeasure with the vote. Write to the mayor. All it takes is one person to make a difference.
