Sir Duke - Stevie Wonder - Bass Guitar Solo Cover

The great tune Sir Duke from Stevie Wonders Songs in the Key of Life album. The three main parts to this song the verse, chorus and horn-unison bridge are all pretty different in terms of playing style. The verse is all about the groove and getting that bounce in a relatively simple root-5th-octave line, the chorus focuses on the chord progression and improvising around that, and then the unison is about sticking to the horns, staying tight on the quick notes and general musical chops. The variety makes it a really fun track to play, although it does take some practice to nail everything especially that unison. Hope you like it. ... but also find your own musical path and voice. Listen to lots of types of music, but don't feel you have to enjoy it all. When playing bass I'd make sure your technique and the way you physically play the bass is good as it can cause physical problems if its not - RSI, damaged ligaments - that kinda thing. Maybe try learning songs by ear a go as it improves your musical ear. And also its important to know it does take effort to get to a standard you want. Hope this helps. Thanks again, -Rob
