  • The handler of this Basenji has never had a Basenji. Wow. Bad facts... lame TV.. Don't get a Basenji... you do not deserve one or know what you are getting in to.

  • I finally found out where my doggie's tail and hunting instinct and remarkable no-bark yodel came from. She is the descendant of pharaohs. Of course the other half of her is corgi, with radar ears and a herding instinct. She's a little confused. She is excessively mild mannered, loving, would never dream of escaping, but she does climb well. And I would not leave her leash off for anything. She also never learned to play.

  • i love my basenji

  • Everyone who coments this video and lives in WA please tell me who the best breeder in WA or at least a good one so I can get a basenji

  • @EuroStatus1985 They might nip (not bite), out of curiosity or attention seeking with strangers. But, they're not bad with strangers at all. Ours is great with people and smaller animals. We have birds and amazingly he's very restrained about chasing them. He will lunge at them occasionally but, I think that is just an instinctual reaction he has.

  • My basenji was an escape artist and could climb any fence with ease. They do have a tendency to be very destructive if you don't keep them occupied. A crate would be a good idea if they have to be loft alone

  • @jmomma2003 agreed ;D

  • @davevontexas

    OMG! That was hysterical!

  • @EuroStatus1985 Some Basenjis are a little cautious around new people...curious rather than aggressive, although when meeting any new dog you should be careful. Personally i've never met a Basenji that wasn't as friendly or friendlier than any other breed and my Basenji (almost a year old) is extremely happy to meet new animals and people and he's very gentle with kids.
