By Christmas 1914, the bloody impasse in the trench lines on the Western Front saw Lord Kitchener looking elsewhere for victory. In an attempt to seize control of strategic Turkey, a British Navel expedition advanced on the Dardanelles, and Allied troops landed at Gallipoliwith the aim of taking Constantinople. However, events did not go according to plan and after 37 weeks, soldiers were evacuated from the beaches.

  • @feliciatjhenry The Anzacs on Gallipoli were volunteers to a man, they realised that the Anglosphere was threatened by the Kaiser & rallied to its defence willingly

  • Just more idiocy by commanders sending infantry against artillery and machine guns. Basically the same story on every battlefield in WW1. It made for trench warfare and terrible slaughter.

  • Wow, I could make myself some popcorn and watch all these idiots argue over their nationalistic pride in the comments.

  • @GRMETAL90 world will be free from evil west and turks will fbe make all world become muslum justice will be all over the world turks and islanm will be victorius

  • CONSTANTINOPLE...

    1000 YEARS HELLENIC CAPITAL...

    WE WILL COME BACK!

  • @oxl81 Yes, Turks are indeed fierce fighters, but it's proven that the fall of the Roman Empire brought backwardness to the world. I mean, they bathed every day and had central heating! What the hell, right? Two things we only started to have in XIX century. Whatever, merry christmas.

  • @TheLiberalKnight The weak Ottomans ?!?

    Really ?!?

    Really ?!?

Fall of Eastern Rome Empire. Begining of The Middle Age. Done by Huns (Ancestors of Ottomans - Turkish Race - Atilla Khan)

Fall of constantinapole. Finalization of the Middle Age. Done by Ottomans (Turkish Race - Fatih Sultan Mehmed aka Mehmed II)

Ottomans WERE THE MIDDLE AGE THEMSELVES. Meanwhile, Europe, especially Brits, starving to death...

Pathetic and Weak !!! such a tradegy and humiliation of yours with no history knowledge

  • You, the mothers,

who sent their sons from far away countries,

    wipe away your tears;

your sons are now lying in our bosom

    and are at peace.

After having lost their lives on this land they have

    become our sons as well."

  • The one and only time when the weak and pathetic Ottomans managed to defeat the British Empire... and only down to bad planning. The Ottomans were weak and had been a joke for nearly half a century.

  • @cCcMo42cCc Not sure if you know this but your little ottoman empire lost. Brought to it's knees by a country of 4 million :)

  • @3choBlaster but cant blame you, because the higher ups of anzac made you people believe that turks are cruel, man eating and merciless, so your thoughts was: gotta rid those monsters from this world...but when you saw a turkish young man dying then you realised that you are being lied by those hgher ups but before you could stop you died...but most people wanted to see war, blood, action and chaos...
