I've got the same type pipes on my '81 xv750, but mine are powder black. No mufflers, just staight pipes. :-) My landlord swears it sounds like a Harley coming up the road. I've had it for almost a year. Bought it for $500 bucks, Guy before me painted the chrome, the aluminum and even the handlebar controls. Like he used a Wisk Broom. The fenders were chopped like he got angry at it. So, I bought chrome parts off ebay and now just need a black gas tank and matching side covers. Lookin good now.
