Stalking the Highland hills, Sir John Nutting QC surveys his estate. Everything he sees belongs to him. Yet this may all be about to change. If the newly formed Scottish parliament have their way, Sir John and others will be selling their land to local people, whether they like it or not! Labour MP Alan Wilson sees the bill as an attempt to "right historical wrongs" - to open up land tenure to rural communities in order to bring about economic development and repopulation. The landlords look on the bill less favourably. They compare the bill to the "Mugabe land grab" and communist revolution, arguing that such "social engineering" would be disastrous for Scotland. For Alan Wilson such arguments are unconvincing. He asserts: "Call it social engineering... I would call it liberating for future generations the land in which people live and work".

my concern is pollution will arrive with the people because most dont respect land and bueaty, as much make it a national park so it will be preserved for ever. Its bueaty is more important.

The idea of trying to force people to sell there land is rediculas, i live on a very small farm of only 19 acres on the england wales border, and my family worked hard to buy those 19 acres, they are worth a lot more to our family than their monetry value

What a beautiful saying...
"Mountains divide us,
and the waste of seas.
Yet still the blood is strong,
the heart is highland.
And we in dreams,
behold the Hebrides".

Well here the government is doing all it can to tax and regulate the forest industry out of business, even the Obamacare bill taxes papermills. Paper mills sell their forest holdings to the state, hurting the tax base and destroying fulltime jobs. Now they figured out deer thrive on logged tracts, so the hunting arguement is void. Thinned evergreen forest help cool the planet, thinned rain forests, the alternate source of paper, increases temperature. But we are going communist here now.

Not tryin' to be 'corrective,' but the abbreviation is properly put as: "etc., etc."
It is an abbreviated Latin term introduced to English usage thru "ye 'olde' legal profession."
The literal Latin words are: "et cetera, et cetera," meaning a list of relative & similar illerations to the original, as you have quite accurately stated.
Good comment & food for thot, 'gdk21.'
Thank you.

They should do like they did in the partition of India and Pakistan after independence from Britain. Every English should leave Scotland and every Scot should leave England. And, there should be border guards that ask for passports from people travelling back and forth between the two nations. Ha! Ha!Ha!
Fat chance of that happening.
