  • I love this song. Over the years I've never heard it played much on the "oldies" stations I've listened to. I don't know why because it's a catchy tune. Funny how much it sounds like Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" at the very start. The late great Skeeter was such an awesome talent. THANKS a million for sharing this delightful "blast from the past" with us! :)

  • When we were kids, it would drive us crazy when the old folks would say "Those were the good old days" and "They just don't make 'em like that anymore"..........But, dammit! Those were the good old days, and they just don't make 'em like that anymore!! Where did the last 50 years go? Skeeter Davis, Shelley Fabares, and madras Bermuda shorts seem like just a little while ago........

  • @sportsmediaamerica

Yes it is, what a beautiful, magic and moving melody!!

  • @OmHaver Carole King's gift for melody is uncanny.

  • Now THIS is the original!! Awesome. Go, Skeeter!

  • @michaelamiles Some of the best music you'll ever hear! Happy hunting!

  • @michaelamiles OMG Never heard of Skeeter Davis? You are so lucky, here's why; There are so many records from this era that are every bit as good as this, (some even better!). And it will all be new to you! Check out Linda Scott, Peggy March, Dusty Springfield, Marcie Blaine, Anita Carter (Blue Doll), too many to remember, and those are just (dare I say it) some of the white chicks. Check out some of the old (black) girl groups, and solo artists! Start with Earl Jean, and go from there!

  • I love you, forever.

  • ...this was her 2nd 'pop' song and it went to #7 on billboard in late'63...skeeter made the rounds on network tv and built her home in Nashville off these songs..!

  • Like most of Carole King's songs, it has sheer `cover' potential: it's still performed here and there.

Really demosntrates how versatile and good a singer Skeeter Davis was since it followed `The End Of The World'.

Which issue is this? When I bought it back in 1963 it had 'Little Nipper' on the label.

    Thanks and Happy New Year.

  • Stumbled across this... never heard of Skeeter or the song before.... looks like I have been missing out on some good sounds :-)
