First pap smear

I had my first pap smear yesterday and when the speculum went in it hurt so much I started crying. My cervix hurts alot today i'm wondering if its normal for my cervix to hurt after the pap smear?

@longhorn12ism I'm sorry it hurt, I know for me when they put it in and pull it out, its uncomfortable and a bit painful, but its not too bad.....I usually have a cramp like feeling after, it feels like I'll be starting my period type of cramps, but if it's really bad pain then I would suggest just calling your doctor and asking if thats normal and describing the pain you have to them, but if its a cramp feeling, thats normal and I would just wait to see if it passes

My gf was talking about this the other dy and it was awkward because i didnt know what it was then her friend says that her doctor was saying try to relax im going to shove a metal thing up yor vagina then i say yeah beacuse when im chilling on the couch at home i alwys shove a lubricated metal thing up my vgina and brush my cervix!!

@cmbgbball I know, its hard to relax when you're being probed, but it is very important to try and be as calm as you can

Ugh mine was horrble and soooo painful my doc kept telling to calm down and I did slowly ...and yea in the end I thought she fingered me Yuck!

@sussanchyna Sorry to hear that, but yes, they do put their fingers in there and feel around, it's to check your ovaries or something I think...awkward, yes, but some doctors I guess just make it easier than others, plus everyone is different so they will all experience it differently.

you are supposed to get a pap smear when you turn 18...regardless if you have sex or not. at least that is what my doctor told me. btw it hurt like no bodies business. i thought i lost my virginity to that metal clamp. horrible experience.

I had my first one a few days ago and I am 25 almost 26 I was scared to get mine too but my experience wasnt as bad as yours but they had everything set out so that freaked me out but when he came I barely even looked at my doctor because I knew I would freak out while he was doing everything so I barely felt anything just pressure when he stuck the speculum in but other than that it didnt even bother me
