Traffic was backed up for several miles at about 5 p.m. Tuesday due to a tractor trailer accident near 3584 McMinnville Highway. It appeared that the truck may have run off the sloped shoulder of the road possibly causing the load to shift and overturn. The man was transported to Stones River Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. It appeared that after overturning, the tractor and trailer skidded down the roadway on its side for several feet on the state highway. Prime alfalfa hay was lying on the side of the road. J.D Underhill, who lived near, heard the accident. He stated it sounded like a "Big Boom," and when he heard that sound, he knew it wasn't good. There was another truck that had wrecked another time, about the same place, in similar circumstances. Underhill helped the driver get out of the truck.
Woodbury and East Side Volunteer Fire Departments and first responders were called to the scene due to smoke coming from the cab and EMA for a possible spill. Cannon County Sheriff's Department worked the accident, which was finally cleared at approximately 8 p.m.
