This is the sixth in a series of simple music videos that include the lyrics to some of the best Pogues songs. The Pogues play traditional Irish music with influences from punk rock. While the actual sound of this music is outstanding, the lyrics are normally incredible and the work of a genius, Shane MacGowan. However many people, particularly those from outside of Ireland, sometimes struggle to make out these excellent lyrics. This series of videos aims to provide these lyrics and hopefully enhance everyones enjoyment of this superb music even further.

  • RIP Bobby Sands (9 March 1954 – 5 May 1981) You died in The Maze 30 years ago today. May you judge the judges.

  • @MsBlounty "Repatriate to Britain, All ye who call it home,

Leave Ireland for the Irish: not for London nor for Rome" - John Lennon "Sunday, Bloody Sunday". or would the Scapegoats Song be more appropriate?

It's not about Catholics vs Protestants.. it's anti-catholic Unionist lapdogs vs United Irishmen. Wolfe Tone, Henry Joy McCracken, Charles Parnell: all Protestants and the 3 Flowers. Republicans dont care about religion; just in a fair, united 32 county Ireland.

  • Its hard to keep up because the lyrics are different from what Shane sings.

  • it was war get over it

  • @walshy2866 There's far too much hatred in your message bud.Not all of us Irish are religious but it shouldn't take religion to know whats right and whats wrong. You're wrong.Try a little less hatred. You'll see you'll feel better.

  • @walshy2866 Fuck the church and the empire, two sides of the same coin ;)

  • Right because nobody ever got raped in a reformatory, Walshy my boy. As far as being a justice system the British Empire was never about anything but justice for those who could afford it.

  • I'd rather be a "whore of the empire" ,(presumeably a referance to the English), than a "whore of rome". Wallowing in their own self pity, more than happy to continue milking the victim role for all its worth&when they really drop a bollock they can go snivelling off to their priest, knock a few hail marys/our fathers off&get instant forgiveness.

Don't knock the arse out of the Britsh justice system, while the church of rome continues its 2000 years of lies, suppression, deception&paedophillia.

  • It's from if i should fall from grace! Tiocfaidh Ar La

  • Right - it's actually two songs combined; "Streets of Sorrow" written and sung by Terry Woods (also an original member of Steeleye Span, BTW), and "Birmingham Six" by and sung by Shane.
