@26JAMM jajaja I think everybody is obsessed with Bulerias at the moment not just the gitanos. However I'm talking about thhe old gypsies that came to Spain around the 14 century (I think). And I disagree I think many gypsies play old flamenco not just new. I think you have to consider that the gypsies that came to Spain and helped create flamenco have intergrated into sociaty now, they may not be what you would consider gypsies now.
@Atienne01 if you lived in seville, then you now what is Triana... people say it only for political discurse, gipsies practice flamenco no much time ago (about 100 years ago only). And gipsy only play new flamenco, they dont like old flamenco. And really flamenco is old flamenco, because all styles are old. For example: sevillanas, fandangos, alegrias, bulerias, malagueñas, martinetes, toneleras... this is called "flamenco jondo". did you see any gipsy playing "flamenco jondo"? only bulerias.
@26JAMM To be honest I think nobody knows for sure. I lot of people claim different things but there is little evidence to back up either viewpoint. However I think the general consensus among musicologists is that the gypsies did have a lot of influence in it's creation. (i lived in Sevilla for a while and many Flamencos held a similar viewpoint)
@vaibanez17 good observation. =) Flamenco was created by many different cultures that were exiled and possibly forced toghether by their expultion (during the catholic reconquest). Therefore it carries many aspects of the moors, jews, gypsies, and other expelled cultures.

Spanish guitar sounds so much like middle eastern guitar. I guess some things of the Moorish reign in Spain hung on through the centuries.
