I tell you, I'd LOVE to own a JD 8850 if I had enough field space to use it, That looks like one INCREDIBLY AWESOME tractor!!! Definitely a "Mean Green Machine"!!!

A good use to put all that 370hp to work.

@1brymark We were asking the same question, until 1999, when we had major flooding and rainfall. Then we converted our degelman blade mount to carry a bale fork, to get bales off the wet fields for the neighbours, as their front wheel assist tractors would just sink once they lifted a bale. It has it's place that is for sure.

ever heard of a 644 a b c e f g j k ?

Needs to be as wide as the tractor to make it productive. Otherwise it's like a manure bucket on an old loader.

7k Lift cap.... Now how much is it capable of lifting? Our skid steer can lift~5000Lbs yet it's rating is far lower

i didn't know loader exist for this big tractors; nice !

@brian93ist .. No they don't .. They buil the 955 V-8 but have since only made 6 cyl engines on their big line, biggest used in ag now is 13.5 liter

@JCPIS2COOL4U does jdmake a v12 engine for any tractors? i dont think they do
Used a brand new one in Australia in "85 The V8 was a joy to work with but was not big enough to use as a stress member. JD should have made the front end of the 8850 with a tough chassis and the engine would have been fine.

@TheTinman47 ..I agree, the engine got a bad rap when all along it was the tractor - if they would have made a frame instead of using the engine block they would of lasted.. The Deere v8 was a good engine and they should of continued use of it but changed the tractor ..
