Some kills are slow and some are instant,I have hunted with a hawk for 7 years and I have seen my bird eat it's prey to death but they just Want fed they are not evil they are awesome and have to be respected and they control them rats with wings

to answer your question, I have been a licensed falconer since 1977. There are a few others similar floating around, and they too have a mixed review. It seems there is a deeper issue here with this type of observations. Almost a religious tone, with people literally expressing, "the lion lays with the lamb" and that because of sin there are now predators. More for a philosophy class I think

it is unfortunate from other response that hatred of predators has not subsided after the bounties were removed. They balance nature, and have no ill will, just the need to eat as we do. Per a comment, they dont go for the heart, just a good hold and the pulling and eating causes death. Sometimes a long time. However, Peregrine's and other Falcons have a notch in the mandible that removes the head. That is quick

hate these pice of shit
well, females are about a third larger than a male. Hence comes the term in falconry calling the male a "tiercel" That term is about a thousand years old. I have also been a licensed falconer her in Cali since 1977, and the proportions seems right. I have many a female take pigeons, but a male has a bit of trouble controlling them. I appreciate that question. Allot of these around, and some dont appreciate life feeding on life

@gyrperegrine Thank you for the information, although how do you know it's a female? And not a male.

I agree; this is not a Peregrine Falcon. I would say immature Cooper's Hawk.
