Halibut recipe anyone can do at home or while camping. This recipe makes halibut taste like lobster. Cut halibut into pieces, put five or six cups of water in a pan with 1/4 cup of salt & sugar, 1/4 cube of butter and juice from lemon. When water boils, add fish pieces. Boil until pieces rise to top, then scoop them out of water. This is the world's best and easist halibut recipe.

  • I was introduced to Poor Man's Lobster by two different fishing guides in Alaska and they both used 7 up instead of water. The only difference between the two was that one guy par boiled the Halibut and then seared it off in olive oil afterwards. Then just dip in drawn butter and you have Poor Man's Lobster.

  • @Zentz29 well i guess your right im just saying the flavor of halibut is very off from that of a monk fish halibut should be just seared grilled , very rarely fried if your do very light coating... boiling fish takes away alot of flavor , halibut isnt as cheap as lobster if your going to buy halibut or a lobster they arent very off in price range per pound, monk fish and lobster are.... its a very ugly fish that is not in high demand.

  • Wait a min...There is a LOT more than 5 cups of water in that pan.

  • @animaladam5 That's like when my cousin tells me I'm wasting a good steak because I put BBQ &/or ranch on it. I like steak better with sauce. People like food all kinds of different ways.

Is everyone who doesn't cook food the way you like it wasting it?

  • uh poor mans lobster is actually used with monk fish.. it has similar flavor to lobster halibut does not in the least... you wasted the meat of a great fish good work bud..

  • we do the same thing with northern pike but we boil 7up instead of water and it tastes just like lobster
