Malaysian 5 Year Old Mental Maths Whiz [Math Mathematics Arithmetics] July 20, 2010

Christopher Teh, 5, from Penang, Malaysia, shows how he completes 45 arithmetic problems in 1 minute and 25 seconds without error (100% correct) and without a calculator.

He is watched by a group of older kids who wonder in amazement at his incredible speed and accuracy.

Coached by his statistician Dad, Dr Andy Teh, Chris also attends a kindergarten and abacus training at a local maths centre (where this video was taken). He is now doing the Singapore Primary 2 Maths Curriculum, 3 years ahead of his peers.

In addition, Chris loves playing chess and beats older kids at the game on a regular basis.

His Dad uses the same techniques to train Chris as he does with his statistics students at post-graduate, university, college, and pre-university (foundation courses, bridging courses, matriculation programmes) levels.
