  • I remember once I was having a debate with a co-worker about music genres. We were arguing about which genre was better, and finally I gave up and said, "It doesn't even matter because musical genres don't even really exist." He laughed, but I what I meant is that these sort of categories are just made up little words.

Is what I said an example of deconstruction? Am I understanding this right?

  • @Somethingreallycool

You were thinking like the people who make the rules do and your friend was thinking like a follower.

Recognizing the box is constructed of arbitrarily applied abstractions is the first step to deconstructing or reframing the box. Most people have trouble really seeing the truth of the nonexistance of boundaries, particularly when they have been agreed upon by most of the culture and have been believed in religiously for a long time.

  • @Cashify But ther ARE boundaries that require invoking a higher law if you want to transgress them. Relative to a human body there are boundaries or physical laws. Step off a cliff and the law of gravity will demonstrate its non-abstract status, UNLESS you invoke a higher law. Let's say the law you invoke is aerodynamics. Now instead of a corpse, the body is a base jumper. Mastering the higher laws will make you very creative, an adept in reframing...which is more than a little useful.

  • @Cashify

I never even gave a thought to non-abstract things. That just blew my mind.

  • ....but I never did mind the mega blasting deconstruction gun.

  • I do so hate it when the hose gets turned on me.

  • Some people are anxious to find out where they are slashable and burnable...some prefer you not to stomp the flowers in their garden...Unless I'm feeling frisky I'll usually keep off the grass.

  • I will spare you my comparative analysis of rigorous overfuzzying...unless you want to play....*raise eyebrow*

  • I heard cheers go up across the internet when you made your fuzzy logic isn't an insult comment. Those of us who don't shave regularly appreciated the justification...

You encourage some to hold fast to intellectual rigour but tell me that i'm over egging the tubbycustard or some such.

  • oh I know where you made the fuzzy logic comment. i'll go look.
