These videos are a collection of glitches and tricks I've found that are likely to be useful to the speedrunning community. They're here for your reference. If you've not played Bioshock, you won't understand them. If you aren't interested in speedrunning, you won't appreciate them. They are demonstration videos only and no attempt has been made to carry out these tricks quickly - only to show how to do them.

This one lets you skip most of Smuggler's Hideout. All you do is make sure you're running backwards when you press the switch and get out of the door before it closes. It was previously thought you had to crouch to get under the door; apparently this is not so. It was also thought that, due to differences in the way the PC and X-Box 360 Bioshock engines handle crouching, this glitch could only be done on PC; this may not be the case. Our controller-wielding brethren need to investigate this.

  • Hot Damn! I've done it! Ignore my last message about this not being possible opn the 360 because it is. You have to turn your sensitivity very high up in order to do this.

I approached the control switch, walked backwards and hit it while i spun around and started to run fowards (because you don't run as fast while walking backwards) and I got through the gate before it shut.

Didn't even have to crouch! Boy am I happy, now time to work on the Point Prometheus skip.

  • That's awesome, man. Never knew that about the backwards speed on 360. Overcoming these seemingly deal-breaking problems one at a time and finally getting the result is an awesome feeling, I know.

I'm messaging you something about the potential Proving Grounds skip because it's too long to post in a comment.

  • You just ran right past Atlas!

Should have shot him in the back. He'd do the same to you.

  • i know he betrays you and everything but was his family actually in there or was this just another hoax in his elaborate plan?

  • Moira can you here me in there? i cracked up the sub was...... destoyed

  • My gosh you're right! I tried this about two dozen times, and finally got it. The true key was very subtle in your words, but I picked up on it and tried it. The key that needs to be emphasized is that when you start rotating, the text that says "Control Panel - Press 'A' to use" sticks around for a short while even AFTER you're no longer looking at the control panel. Press it then, and you make it through the door fine.

  • I'll try doing this on the 360 since now we know you don't have to crouch.
