In less than 10 minutes, you can leverage additional point attribute information using Civil 3D. Not all points can be represented using only a Point Number, Elevation and Description. Some points require addtional information to represent values like size, date, species, invert... Civil 3D allows the end user to extend a Point Object's definition to include these values and many many more.

i dont know of any laws prohibiting a small child from mapping trees, or a play ground for that mater. However if he took his data and compiled it into a plan and tried to pass himself off as a PLS or PE that would be fraud

I hope your "Arborist" was either a licensed surveyor or working as an agent of a LICENSED SURVEYOR, otherwise they can get themselves in big trouble . . .
