Ringing Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's wonderful circus rolled into town this week, and not surprising, the opening performance in Huntsville Thursday night was magical.

The Von Braun Center Arena was nearly filled to capacity as 100 performers in colorful costumes and outfits paraded around the three rings in one of the highlights of the night.

  • chellycat: what, does the truth bother you? It should. If you pay to go to such circuses, you are supporting animal abuse. How does that make you feel?

  • Elephants belong to NATURE not in circus

I've protested at circuses before, handed out flyers, etc. It can't hurt to get the message out, because a lot of people are just uninformed. The less people that go to animal circuses, the better.

Then maybe everyone should complain to the law instead of on youtube videos about this. Which was pretty much my point in the first place, that whining on a video wouldn't get a damn thing done. And as for inconsistencies, abuse and neglect laws have them as well.

And as we all know, just because it's illegal doesn't mean people don't do it.

  • @ToxicTwistedTipOffs

There are already strict laws against child abuse & domestic abuse, and severe punishments for abusers. No matter where it happens, it's illegal. It's terrible that it still happens, but I don't think it's ignored; the law addresses it. As far as animal abuse, there are many inconsistencies. When people are throwing puppies in the trash, it's illegal, but when they're being abused for entertainment purposes, it's not? That really needs to be addressed.

  • @swimmer24100 The adults will understand, and personally I will be one of those parents that won't take their kids (at least not to an animal circus). But you can't control the public as a whole, sadly. And some people just don't care. I've always wondered though, why do you hear everyone constantly wanting to save the animals, yet child and domestic abuse seems to get ignored? Not to go off topic, but I've always wanted an animal rights supporters answer on that one.

  • @samfinley1 why does it make a difference whether they are killed or not??!! They are still tortured and forced to do stupid tricks and live in bad conditions while they're alive. So, just because they're not dead, we shouldn't stand up for them?

We're making a point about THIS video. Maybe the same people will make a point about the farm animals being killed in another video that's relevant to that!

  • Awful awful awful..shame on you for supporting a business that does NOT treat their animals well behind the scenes.

  • @ToxicTwistedTipOffs No, kids in kindergarten won't understand, but the adults that take them will. They are the ones who need to take notice of what goes on at circuses. It's there job to be informed and to do what's right. People like Kenneth Feld have said that the day that the public ceases to show up will be the day that they stop using animals in their show. We have the power... maybe we won't be able to stop it,but what's the matter with trying? What's wrong with getting the message out?

  • @swimmer24100

I didn't say we weren't supporting animal abuse, I was simply saying everyone whining and complaining on a video about animal abuse wasn't going to get anything done. Kids enjoy the circus, people are going to go, it happens, get over it. That's what I said. Do you really think kids in kindergarden are aware enough to realize 'these animals are being tortured'? I wasn't. I don't go anymore. But kids still enjoy going, free tickets, parents take them... that's how it works.

  • @ToxicTwistedTipOffs

I know it's hard to accept, but by going to the circus, you ARE supporting animal abuse. You are funding it, in fact. You don't have to support PETA to boycott circuses. All you have to do is care enough about animals to say that you aren't going to fund abuse.
