Formed in 2007, Raven are Stephanie Benedetti, Natalie Holt, Rachael Lander and Kirsty Mangan.
Disillusioned with the traditional background role of the string quartet and frustrated with tired old repertoire, the girls wanted to reinterpret popular classical tunes and revolutionise the way they are performed.
Three months after forming, Raven found themselves performing to millions of viewers as the resident string quartet on BBC's Maestro, aiding Blur's Alex James and drum and bass legend Goldie to hone their conducting skills.
Three years later they have collaborated with everyone from musical comedian Tim Minchin to pop impresario, Guy Chambers.
Recently, Raven have enjoyed a number of widely received live performances backing Ellie Goulding. As well as sell out shows at Hammersmith Apollo, the girls performed on Ellie's BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, pulling off a cover of Rihanna's Only Girl in the World which presenter Fearne Cotton called "the Live Lounge performance of the year".
This Elgar Room show sees the quartet showcasing a mix of new material featuring arrangements of rock and pop songs plus some standard classical repertoire.
