Works brilliantly on my petrol gen but I also have a Chinese diesel generator that has an electric start which is even worse for not starting after awhile, any ideas on that?

Thanks Don. I'm trying to get my '07 powermate 2500 running after leaving fuel (untreated) in the tank and not clearing the carb before storing. Lesson learned!

My thinking is the carb is just gummed up but cleaning the tank and trying to use wd40 as a starter didn't work. Manual or not, I'll pull the carb bowl and go from there.

IT SOUNDS LIKE IT STARTED BUT......THE WAY IT IS RUNNING, FAST THEN SLOW, ROUGH IDLE ETC. IS BECAUSE THE LOW SPEED JET IS PLUGGED UP! YES IT STARTED BUT IT DOES NOT SOUND LIKE IT WAS RUNNING NORMALLY. THEY WILL RUN WITH THE LOW SPEED JET PLUGGED UP BUT WHEN YOU TURN ON THE LOW SPEED IDLE SWITCH, THE MOTOR WILL DIE!

THAT IS THE WAY TO TEST THE LOW SPEED IDLE SWITCH BY THE WAY.

@DeepFriedFuzzball thanks might try that next time, i have found if i heat it up a bit first it starts easily but if i don't it won't start at all.

@syncmaster710n14 I saw your comment on here, I have on of those diesels but it's not attached to a generator and it's just pull start, but It always starts great. If you're having trouble with yours, try bleeding the injector line to make sure there's no air in it, and if that doesn't work take out the injector and do a spray test on it to make sure it's working right, sometimes they get a bit dirty and then the engine just don't wanna run...hope that helps :]

@mountfields The only thing that sucks is you can't get parts for chinese engines. They need to be replaced with honda parts. I broke the air box cover and I had to replace it with a Honda cover. It cost me $43 bucks for the stupid thing.

@mountfields yep I have a chinese generator made by NikoTa. Its a 3500 watt with a 6.5 hp honda clone. Its 8 years old and it runs great. I had mine running almost non stop after I lost power from hurricane Irene. It was running for 9 hours a day for 3 days lol. All I did was change the oil and put in a new spark plug. I had almost my whole house running off the 240 volt outlet. everything but my A/C's, washer and dryer. Not bad for an 8 year old $300 generator lol.
